James Madison Bottoms married Eliza McElroy Hartsfield. Her parents, according to the posting of April 15, 2000, were Warren and Elizabeth (Holmes) Hartsfield.Would it be possible that she were, however, the daughter of James and Nancy (Olive) Hartsfield?According to the James Hartsfield Bible records, their daughter, Eliza M. Hartsfield, was born 5 February 1821.This fits perfectly with Eliza Bottoms's age given as 29 in the census taken 28 October 1850, 39 in the census taken 5 July 1860, 45! in the census taken 2 June 1870, and 59 in the census taken 14 June 1880.
James Hartsfield lived near his uncle, Warren Hartsfield, and also James Madison Bottoms in Pike County.James Hartsfield was taxed on Lot 182 of District 1 in 1825 and 1829.Warren Hartsfield owned lots 209, 210, 237 & 238.James Madison Bottoms owned Lots 106 and 121.On 16 October 1848 James Hartsfield purchased Lot 106 from James Bottoms and sold it back to him 12 days later on 28 October 1848.
