Hello Kip Sharp - Thanks for such a prompt reply! My answer is going to be long winded and sketchy, sorry.
In 1953 my grandmother had some research done on her grandfather James McCallum, Adams Cty, MS.I have only a few pages of this research.. The researcher believed that an Archibald McCallum of Jasper Ct, MS was James McCallum's uncle. Of Archibald she says:He had a daughter Catherine who was married twice.First to a "Thompson" but he must have died, and in 1842/3 she married an Asa Hartfield of Perry Cty and they had at least 2 children: John who lived in Perry Cty & Ronald who lived in Louisiana. In the 1840's Asa & Catherine are mentioned in a will as living in Jasper Cty.Of the Hartfields she says that Asa came to Perry Cty in 1815/17 and built one of the first mills there.I have no other dates or info but it seemed to me that the Asa that married Catherine was most probably the son on the man who came to MS in 1815.I don't know if this is any help at all!
