Eric, your posting, two years ago, mentioned that Jesse Meshew was recruited and signed up in Reuben Hartsfield unit, in 1780, for service in the Revolutionary War.Jesse Meshew was my GGGGF, who in 1794 received a SC Governor's land grant in Lancaster Co, SC, married Elizabeth CROXTON, daughter of Benjamin and Mary (MINTER) CROXTON.By 1820 they were in Jackson Purchase area of far western KY.From there, many MESHEW's have come into being.
He mentioned serving for Reuben HARTSFIELD in his pension application.
What I would like to know is how you came to know of his recruitment in 1780 and did he live near and know Reuben Hartsfield before he signed up.He stated that he was from the upper PeeDee River country and had gone to Georgetown, SC, to accomplish his initial Rev War sign up.
You can e-mail me at [email protected], or just answer the posting through Genealogy.com.Thanking you in advance, I remain
