Sheila,
I descend from James Hartin and Jenny Martin. According to a Bio, given by Dal Hartin at page 563 of Goodspeed's A Reminiscent History of The Ozark Region, James and Jenny together with their first three children left Ireland and landed at Charleston SC about 1790. I've not been able to locate them there nor have I been able to link them to the Hartins that you descend from there in SC. The first I have James is in Sumner Co TN when he gave oath to prove the will of Benjamin Roney in Sumner Court March term 1804. James died there and his will was probated in May 1816. I would like very much to link him to the SC Hartins and to account for the family's whereabouts from Sumner Co TN back to their arrival in SC. You have apparently have done quite a bit of digging in SC deed records and I wonder if you have seen Hartins that you can't place, such as maybe James. I have found land grants in SC to Henry as early as 1788. Your responce would be greatly appreciated, Tom Clark.
