Jonathan Hartsog/Ashe Co, NC 1800's

I am seeking information on Jonathan Hartsog who married Thursa Bowers ca. 1840 in Ashe County, NC. I have their marriage record. They lived in Ashe County in 1850 and had moved to Washington County by 1860. By 1870, Jonathan disappears from census records. The stone next to Thursa's in Kelly's Chapel Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia is old and unreadable. I think that it is Jonathan's. One of their sons also disappears from census records in Virginia. I speculate that he may have gone back to North Carolina to live, but I have no proof.
