In 1857, George Hartsoe of South Carolina and Frederick Hartsoe of Alabama sold land in Chatham County, North Carolina to Winship Philip Hartsoe (1827-1903) of Chatham County, NC. In 1850, George Hartsoe (24) and Frederick Hartsoe (30)were listed on the same page of census in Richland Co., SC, both born NC. I believe that the 3 of these men were brothers. Winship Hartsoe was the son of Philip Hartsoe (1787-betw 1860-1870) and Christian (last name unknown)of Chatham County, NC.

Frederick Hartsoe later returned to Chatham County where he married Areanna Lasater (1814-1895)and remained throughout his lifetime.

Is William C. Hartsoe a brother of George P. Hartsoe?
