Hi Ann,
Hadn't heard from you in a while... I hadn't thought about the gap in time before Elizabeth and Cassandra starting having children but it does appear a bit strange. Perhaps they had earlier children that died?... or maybe some that are not recorded... since I was given the info and didn't research it myself I cannot vouch for its accuracy.
I followed the sisters through the years (orphan accounts/records in Brunswick) while they were living with their uncle (Samuel Harwell) after their father (James Harwell) died in 1770.Once they married though I have mostly relied on info gathered by Brown and Harwell researchers in Giles County where they moved to.The Browns refer to Buckner Harwell as their brother-in-law which probably means that his second wife (Sarah/Sally) was a sister of Elizabeth and Cassandra. Frank Tate has done a lot of work which gives considerable credibility to this viewpoint. With his father being the guardian of the girls as they grew up it's very obvious that Buckner and Sarah knew each other well and when his first wife (Browder) died I don't think it was too long until he and Sarah married.Too bad there does not appear to be a marriage record for either of Buckner's two marriages...
Regards,
Charles
