William Harvey, New Hanover NC, 1740-1775
Can anyone identify this/these William Harvey(s)???I am not sure how many I have.
New Hanover NC court minutes:
1740/41—March 10
Constables appointed: ……… William Harvey, Rocky Point
1740—December 10
Jury includes………William Harvey
1741/42—March Term
Constables appointed: ……….Wm Harvey, Rocky Point
Could he possibly be the same William who as William Harvey of the Province of South Carolina gives Power of Attorney to William Faris, merchant, of North Carolina, to recover money? (something) from Thomas Clifford, late of North Carolina, Deceased…………this POA is signed at Charles Town, Sept. 1741; proved at New Hanover court, Dec. 1741; and registered Jan. 1741/42.
Several years of New Hanover Court Minutes are missing…………the next Harvey entry is March 1765, when Francis Harvey and William Walker are appointed “Searchers” for Rocky Point.
In January 1773, William and Francis Harvey enter 500 acres in New Hanover on Widow Moore’s creek; and on that same day (next entry) William Walker enters 200 acres also on Widow Moore’s creek.
William Harvey’s will, dated June 1773, proved July 1775, listed his wife, Acceth, sons Francis, Daniel, and John; daughters Sarah Harvey, Acceth Harvey, Elizabeth (Harvey) Anderson and Mary (Harvey) Ramsey. He names as one of his executors his “son-in-law” William Walker.
Is William Walker married to an unnamed Harvey daughter?? or is William Walker the step-son of William Harvey??
