Hi, Jeff, I have an aunt named Evelyn, I will have to ask her if she knows for whom she is named.I agree with you on the death certificates, but I've also seen some errors on the census records...for instance, where was Gabriel G. Haselden in 1860, when he should have been 4 years old?
Since Samuel A. and Samuel W. appear in several of the same censuses, I think it's fairly obvious they aren't the same person.Whether and/or how they are connected is a more difficult question.Samuel W. doesn't appear to be old enough to be the father of Samuel A.Since Samuel W. appears to be one of the oldest children of the Samuel who left the land for Muddy Creek Church (are we calling this one Samuel Jr. or Samuel Sr?), the only possible way Samuel Alfred could be part of this line would be as the son of James - however, you appear to have shown that Samuel A. is very possibly the son of John Haselden, who must be a brother or other relative of "Muddy Creek Church" Samuel.
I agree with you on the analysis of the Owens sisters and their husbands, and also that Thomas Heaselden must have been connected in some way, possibly a brother. And what about the Richard Hazelton mentioned earlier in Williamsburg County?
Now as far as Samuel Haselden, his will in 1822 mentions his wife Ann, daughter Violetta, and sons James and Samuel Wyott, and his small children. It says that no division of the land should take place until after the youngest child reaches the age of 21, and/or his wife has died.I don't think these conditions were met until 1837, when 2 acres was finally deeded to Ebenezer Methodist Church.
I tend to think that those mentioned on this 1837 deed were the surviving children of Samuel Haselden, including John C. Haselden.(Could John and John C. have been different persons, or do you have a different interpretation?) I am confused about the James G. Altman listed here - who was he, and what was his relation?
