Hi Todd
There is certainly something awry. This seems to set back Suzanne's William being Nicholas the Beer House Keeper's son.As I think he was born in Distington, Cumberland which seems to be the connection with the other Nicholas born in 1801 to Nicholas and Mary Halliday and disconnects them from the rest of the tree for the time being.
The Nicholas from Hutton Rudby must have been married previously as there is a William b abt 1820 and a Henry b abt 1828 in the home in the 1841 census; and all of the children were born in Durham. The only fly in the ointment is that Nicholas is shown as 40 in the 1841 census which as you know can be 40 - 45, howver, I think you're correct that this is Nicholas and Elizabeth Hunter but whether he was 58 in 1851 is questionable.Nicholas and Elizabeth Hunter are shown as being married in the march quarter of 1838 in Free BMD in Sunderland.
Back to the drawing board for Suzanne's William!
Regards
John
