Greetings fellow HATCH researchers!
My name is Craig H. Trout and I am the group administrator for newly established HATCH-DNA Research Project. To clarify, there had previously been a HATCH Family Project that had been largely dormant since it’s activation over a year ago. Terry Barton, the group administrator for that previous group, has now graciously allowed me to adopt the previous project, give it a rebirth, and move it forward to becoming a useful HATCH research site that combines research resources for both traditional genealogy and genetic genealogy.
We are now pleased to announce that the HATCH-DNA Research Project is up and running effective 11/03/06 and we are now accepting new members who wish to use Y-DNA testing to either validate or expand their traditional research.

Once you have submitted the above “join request,” you will receive a “join link” within about 24 hours that will allow you to actually order your Y-DNA test.
The cost of a basic 12-marker Y-DNA test is $99 + $2 shipping and handling through the nationally recognized labs we have selected to use. This lab processing fee is the only cost involved, and the project itself does not receive any money. This is strictly a volunteer-administered, not for profit, effort to advance HATCH family research.
The 12-marker test is useful for “rough sorting” to see if you have a general match to a known HATCH line on file, or future HATCH lines as new test results come in.
More advanced 25 or 37-marker tests are useful for then more fully evaluating a true match, or in establishing a DNA reference line for a very well documented genealogy. Some researchers may prefer to start at the 25 or 37-marker level.
