Obituary, Dated March 20, 1926,
Spartanburg Herald , Spartanburg, S.C.
EDMUND HATCH, 85, a Grand Army of the Republic veteran, whose home is in Tyringham, Mass., died yesterday, at the home of his daughter, MRS. E.J. SCHOONMAKER, North Dean St, Spartanburg, after a long illness. MR. HATCH enlisted as a youth in Co. I, 49th Massachusetts Infantry and served through the entire 4 years of the war.
He is survived by his widow, MRS. MARY F. HATCH of Tyringham, Mass., and the following children: MRS. E.J. SCHOONMAKER, of Spartanburg, MRS. G.A. ADAMS of Hartford, Conn, MRS. R.E. FOX, of Yonkers, N.Y., MISS RUTH HATCH of N.Y. city, and HORACE E. HATCH of Bridgeport, Conn; and one sister, MRS. LAURA MURRAY of Pittsfield, Mass.
The funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Bobo Funeral Home Sunday afternoon by Rev. Herbert, pastor of Bethel Methodist Church. The remains will be placed in a receiving vault for about sixty days when they will be shipped to Tyringham for interment.
