Liz,
Joseph Hatty was a peddler from Lebanon and traveled all over the world and knew five languages fluently. When he got to the U.S., he traveled all over. However, when he got to South Louisiana, he said he never met nicer people and married and settled here. Actually, he met a 10 year old girl in Loisiana when he was 20. He told her dad not to let her marry anyone b/c he was coming back to marry her when she was older. He came back 10 years later and married her. Then they had 9 children, 6 boys and 3 girls. All 6 boys were drafted into the army at the same time and the age difference between the oldest and the youngest was about 15 years. They all survived the war. How about that for a story!!
Regards,
Claire
