Kate Haury Lorsch was my grandfather's sister. His name was August Joseph Haury. Their parents were Mary and Joseph Haury. Both Mary and Joseph were born in Baden, Germany. They are on the 1870 census and the 1900 census in Louisville, Ky. Mary was born in either 1848 or 1847, in Baden. In the 1870 census, her occupation was listed as "keeping house". She died in 1926 and is buried in the Haury family plot at St. Michael's Cemetary in Louisville. Joseph died in 1909, and is buried beside Mary at St. Michael's. His occupation was listed as stonecutteron the 1870 census. Kate's full name was Katherine. She was born in Ky. Her married name was Lorsch. She died in 1953, and is buried in the Haury plot in St. Michael's. In the 1900 census, she lives with her father & mother at 717 Underhill, Louisville. It lists her as Kate Lorsch. No husband is listed, but her 5 children are (Mamie, Charles, Marguarette, Thomas, Gertrude.)
I don't know Mary's maiden name, do you? Also, you mentioned the 1910 Mericode. I'm not sure what that is...could you fill me in?
Thanks for the connection. It's interesting to know what happened to Kate's family!
