I am gr gr gr grandaughter of Amelias parents.Name is John J. HAWVER and Catharina Dopp. JOHN J. was born Johannis Haver 11 Sept. 1791 christened on Oct 13 1791 at Kinderhook Reformed Church, Columbia Co.N.Y. Parents: Johannes Haver, and Christina Wolff.
Catharina Dopp was born 19 NOV 1792 in Rheinbeck Flats, Dutchess Co. NY and was christened in thelocal Dutch Reformed Church.
Their name was changed from Johannis to John sometime between their marr,27 Dec. 1811 and the birth of their 1st child in July/AUG 1812.
In 1814 March, their 1st son was born, Peter D. my gr gr grpa. The last name in 1840 after they were in ILL. was Hawver and remains. Also is on all headstones at BIG FOOT ILL.Cemetery where many many of the Hawvers are buried.
In 1850 Chemung township, Mchenry, Co. Ill.census we find Amelia married age 19 and her 24 yr old husband living next farm to her parents they had no children at that time.
Grace Bagwell gave you death dates and burial place for Amelia. Is Nicholas bur there also. Do not find him near where they were in 1850.Had thought a Daniel Harp was his father?
Have a name Frances Aleno Harp 11 Feb.1854 b.in Mchenry Co. Ill.Father: Nicholas C.Harp.Mother: Amelia Hauver(sp)
We find the marraige in 1849 in Mchenry Co. ILL.
Amelia has brothers and sisters.
Have several pictures of her one brother, Alfred b. 1839. and his family and a pencil sketch of her brother John b. 1820.
Hope to get some pictures of more of the family
the older and the younger ones alike.
Do not beleive Amelia was born in Jefferson County NY as LDS site has that info for several of the family and they (LDS) give the town of Roots, Jefferson County .I have been assured there is no Roots in Jefferson County and never was. There was a Root, Montgomery Co. NY and is named Root Center now.The family IS in Montgomery Co between Root and Canajoharie (9) miles in 1820--1830--1840 census so have ruled out Jefferson Co. plus the distance would have been very long back then.
