Diane
I happen to have a clipping from a Marion Co., TN Family Genealogy Book that has a Havner history. In it the author, James T. Dunwoody, who was a Havner descendant, states,"Johann Dierk Heifner and wife Elizabeth came to NC on the ship Phoenix on October 20, 1744. their seat was old Heidleberg, Germany, where on their arms the name is spelled Hafner."
FYI
