This is James Madison Hawthorn, his wife, Parazade Thomas McIntosh, and their family. James Madison Hawthorn was born 20 January 1811 in Morgan County, GA and died 24 January 1894 in Alachua County, FL. He was the son of Benjamin Hawthorn born 4 April 1784 in Fairfield County,SC and Elizabeth Sharp born 13 October 1788. Benjamin and Elizabeth were married on 23 May 1803 in Jackson County, GA.

Benjamin Hawthorn was the son of James Hawthorn born ca 1748 in either Ireland or Scotland, and his wife, Flora Cameron. James immigrated to South Carolina with his parents, John Hawthorn born ca 1714, probably in Scotland, and his wife, Elizabeth Chalmers born ca 1724, from County Monaghan, Ireland. The Hawthorn family arrived at the port of Charleston on Christmas Day 1767 via the Brigantine Chichester, which had set sail from Belfast, Ireland in September of that year.

If you are interested in more information on this Hawthorn family, you might want to contact Jerry Hawthorne, who last year published a book entitled "Back Tracking the Hawthornes". Jerry is descended from James M. Hawthorn and Parazade McIntosh. Jump to the Hawthorne (with an 'e')Family Forum for Jerry's messages regarding information on the book - these were posted about this time last year.
