G'Day Kurt, my name is Lex Hawthorn, my sisters name is Rosemary Hollingbery, I also have a brother Perry.
I am the son of Brian Hawthorn born in Nelson New Zealand 19/01/32, his father was Ludovic Blackwood Hawthorn born in Collingwood NZ 1900-01, and his father was James Hawthorn who Came to New Zealand from Edinborough in the mid 1800's,with his wife Marie, and children Tom and Mary/maree,who were born in Scotland, they then had children in New Zealand named, Hammond, Mathew,Arthur,Ludovic,James, and Jean.
As you may be aware the vikings travelled to and from Scotland, and Hawthorn is a Scots name from the highlands.
The clans we are associated with are the McDonalds, the McEwens, and the McNeals, for any further information on the Hawthorn Family I would advise you to try and contact the head of clan McDonald "The McDonald"who may be able to steer you in the right direction.
Also the name Hawthorn before Sorensen denotes that the Hawthorn was a female.
The Hawthorn Family does have its own tartan, shield, and embellishments.
All the very best with your search kurt.
