William's father was John. He lived in Robeson County NC until late in life and then moved to Georgia where I believe he died in Pulaski County. I just recently discovered that William's wife, Meleachy Cliburn Hawthorn's mother (I don't have my records in front of me right now, but I think her name was Mary Cliburn) actually moved to Decatur County (now Grady County) Ga where she died.

John fought in the American Revolution. Some people believe William did also because of his name being in the land lottery, but I've been told that doesn't necessarily mean he fought. I have a copy of a microfilmed letter to the editor which William wrote to a paper called The Primitive Baptist in which he named some men who were apparently officers in the Revolution and one genealogist told me that was the closest proof he had seen that William was actually in the war.

I understand there is a book from Virginia that has baptism records of the Hawthorns in Virginia that links John back to England. I have those names, but I've never actually seen the book or been able to verify the link between John and the Virginia Hawhorns.

You certainly may email me. I have a paper I wrote for a Church History class that might interest you, and some other information that I would be happy to send to you via snail mail. I had a computer crash several years ago and i've never re-entered all my info, but I do still have hard copies.
