Fred, I believe the Hawthornes who came to New York (probably the Salem area) were part of the Cahans migration from County Monaghans. Some of the others went to Old 96 in South Carolina. All were a part of Thomas Clarke's congregation. I bought a book about the Ballybay Church and the Cahans migration when I was in Ireland. My Hawthornes (the John/Elizabeth Chalmers group were from there as well - they just came a little bit earlier than some of the others.
