Benjamin Hayes was born in New York state about 1799, was in Beekmantown, Clinton Co., NY in 1830; was in Hayfield, Crawford Co., PA in 1840; in Venango, Crawford Co., PA in 1850; in Elred, Warren Co., PA in 1860 and 1870. He is buried in the Trimm Cemetery which says he died 1 Feb. 1871, aged 71 years, 7 months and 6 days.
His wife was Sarah P. Hayes born VT. It is said that her maiden name was Smith, but I have no proof of that. There were many children. Benjamin and Sarah were probably married about 1820; probable children were Andrew born in 1824 NY; Charles born 1828 NY; Horace born 1830 VT;
Harriet born 1832 VT; Sarah born 1834 VT; James born 1837 PA; Cyrus born 1840 PA; John H. born 1842 PA. There was also a daughter, Elsie, who married a Fitch; she would be older. There was also a daughter who was married to a Hitchcock; she probably died young, leaving a son, Edwin,
age 8 in 1860 and a daughter Anna, age 3 in 1860. They were living with Benjamin and Sarah in the 1860 census. In 1870, their last name was listed as Hayes and they were living with Cyrus and his family.
Would like to exchange information on this family. I believe I have the ancestry of Benjamin and would like to compare notes.
