Hi Nadine:
I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800.
Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 35%.
Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database.
Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome).
For Rhoda Quinn B 1843 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland with the father's forename unknown, the closest to this forename I found were rcds for a Roderick in 1842 Tipperary, and a Rodger in 1844 Roscommon. These are long shots.
For Ho(NORA) Hayes B 1847 +/- 1 yr somewhere in Ireland with the father forenamed John, I found 2 rcds: 1847 Cork, and 1847 Tipperary.
For James Hayes B 1857 (exact) ditto, I found 0 rcds.
For John Hayes M 1842 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland, I found 209 rcds - too many.
For Bri(dget) Ryan M ditto, I found 480 rcds - too many.
For the Bridget/James marriage, you can list the yr/cnty combinations for each. Then, compare the lists noting only those with yr/cnty combinations in common. Then from this select set, review county rcds to see if you can find a matching parish.
Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.
