Hi Robert,
I just saw your posting of 1998, mentioning that your father was born in Kingston-upon-Hull. That's where I was born! I'm a relative newcomer to tracing family trees - I haven't got much past my grandfather (James Edward Haysom) who died around 1954, when I was just 3. I travelled back to the UK in 1997, and talked with a couple of uncles (both since deceased) but they weren't able (or willing) to tell me a lot of detail. I would be interested in any information you may have about your Hull family.

BTW, I had a chat with a Canadian Haysom quite a few years ago who has relatives in the Channel Isles, and he suggested the Haysom name came from "Van Haysom" , a Dutch name which came to England with the Normans.

Best regards,
Chris Haysom
