William Haslet - d. 1797
To date I have documented my family back to Allen Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.Tax records put William, William Jr. and Andrew Haslet there in 1761.Andrew, his wife and William, Jr. were killed by Indians during the 1763 Stanton Massacre.A daughter, Ann, reportedly survived a scalping. The question I have is for Andrew’s father, William. He probably emigrated from Ireland. He may be the William Haslett who died in Carlisle, PA in 1797 at the age of 100 years and nine months. That would put his birth date in 1696.The question I have is when did he immigrate and where did he land?I suspect that William is a cousin of the Faggs Manor Hasletts since after the Stanton Massacre the remaining family went back to that area (1790 Census – Oxford, Chester County, PA).Rev. Samuel Haslet, a grandson, was born in 1788 (Methodism in Western Pennsylvania by Smeltzer) in NJ, which is along the Delaware River, the land route one would have taken going from Allen Township to the Faggs Manor area.
