Dear Diane Wright,Dr. Wm Jos Heacker was my great grandfather.I never met him or Aunt Maude. his daughter. I do have between a dozen and two dozen of his letters written to Leona, and my grandmother,'Mrs.Heacker,or Maggie and F.A or Frank Adam, or just Adam', whom she married (?) after my grandfather died in St.Jo, in 1903. I have great grandfather's letter, written Dec.24,1903,after receiving a 6 a.m. phone call '...of my son Edwin's death'. Also there's a letter of Jan.20,1903, saying..."The best thing for you is to come home and remain till you get well say from 30 to 60 daysl Maude says your trip will cost you notheng get a free ticket. Your board and medicine will be nothing here that is better than paying Texas Doctor bills and die....
Are you the daughter or granddaughter or grgranddaughter of Aunt Maude or Henry Larkin Wright? If so,I can I assume that you have inherited all of his family papers? If so, I would love to sit down with you some day. I have so many questions. I remember, when i used to ask my dad questions about the family, He'd say,"You need to see Aunt Maude>' I had no Idea who that was, and we lived in Mobile. I do think she was probably still living when I moved to Chattanooga (1957) Frank and Sally Faris surprised me with a visit at work, and Sally told me that she was a Heacker! Many years later, Frank and Sally drove me, my mom and dad,and Dad's sister Armilda up to see Henry Larkin Wright in Oneida,TN. He gave me a few things then, and it was on that trip that Aunt Arilda gave me Great granddads letters, along with some photographs. I am still not perfectly clear about all of grgrdad's brothers and sisters, and know practically nothing about the composition of his father's family. As for Adam Huecker and Mary Scheumacker, I've neverfound a trace of them anywhere. Do you know anything about names and dates of ships they came over on? Ports? Please email me. Thanks, Edwin Crowell Heacker, Jr. .... eheacker@msn.com
