Dear Michael Heckers: I am not aware of any Heackers from my family remaining in Germany. That does not mean that there are none. I have seen microfilm of the church records of my Great grandfather,Wilhelm Joseph Hucker(b.Mar.26,1832)in Balve-Garbeck, Westphalia , and his father, Franz Joseph Johannes Hucker (b.Nov.11,1803 in Augsburg. I believe his mother's family is still in Balve. Her name was Fredericka Losse, with the umlaut. Hucker also used the umlaut. I will have to learn to make an umlaut on the computer keyboard.

I wonder whether there could be any relation between our families. I've just discovered that my great grandfather's brother dropped the 'a' from his name, and was Henry George Hecker. I had always thought that Hecker's were no kin to me, but now I'm learning a lot of new stuff. I want to come to Germany in two years. I have to work fast though, as I'm 75 years old now. Please write and let me know what you know about German Heckers, Hueckers, Heackers. etc. Thanks. Edwin Crowell Heacker, Jr. I live in Atlanta, Georgia, and want to start learning German.
