In Reply to: Searching for Mary HEARL b.c1776 ME who m. James MOODY c1795 Buxton by melissa1 of 48

James Moody, may the the James Moody, Jr. born c1773 in either Standish, Gorham or Buxton, Maine who was a son of James Moody and Elizabeth SHAW. James, Sr. apparently lived in Buxton, York Co., Maine for a while and enlisted in the Rev. War there on Aug. 26, 1777. At some point, he came to Standish, Cumberland Co., Maine and was said to be the first blacksmith in that town.
The date of birth for this James Moody, Jr. who married Mary Hearl and the geography and the lack of a numerous amount of James Moody's in the area, sure make this seem like the likely candidate to me.
Again, if anyone has further info, Please leave a message.
Thank You.
