I don't know what is the correct spelling of this man's name because this is how it appears so many times in the Berwick, York Co., Maine old VR's.
Atherington HERLE was baptized at the First Church of Berwick on Dec. 20, 1719, so was William Herle, Jr. and Thomas Herle.
On Feb. 18, 1723 in Berwick, York Co., Maine
Etherington HEARL and Hannah GOODWIN were married.
On Aug. 27, 1724 Hannah wife of Atherington HERLE was baptized at the First Church of Berwick.
On July 4, 1725 - Patience, daughter of Athington HERLE was baptized.
On June 11, 1727 - William, son of Atherington HERLD was baptized. (I am spelling these exactly as they have them).
On July 27, 1729 Mary, daughter of Atherington & Hannah HERLE was baptized.
On April 13, 1735 - Love and Abigail the children of Atherington HERLE were baptized.
On Aug. 10, 1740 Joshua son of Atherington & Hannah HERLE was baptized. (I believe him to be the Joshua Hearl that married Hannah BRADBURY in 1766 Berwick, ME).
On July 7, 1745 Abigail, daughter of Atherington & Hannah HERL was baptized. (apparently their daughter Abigail born in 1735 did not live).
From an old genealogy on the Whittemore family...William Whitemore of Portsmouth, NH a goldsmith bought a parcel of land containing 1 1/2 acres in Kittery Point from Ichabod GOODWIN of Berwick and his wife Elizabeth for L30.
Witnesses: Artheronton HEARL etc. etc. etc. dated Nov. 4, 1741. It is most likely that Ichabod and Elizabeth Goodwin are related to Hannah (Goodwin) HEARL, Atherington's wife.
That's all the info I have for now.
