Hello Joyce,

I think there is a VERY good chance your David was a son of the George Heater-Heiter of early Portage Co., Ohio. (Appears on the 1820 & 1830 census with a houseful of boys.)

He is also probably the David Heater who married Mary Herchelroth on 27 Nov 1828 in Portage Co. and also appears on the 1830 census there.

Not my direct line but I think the older George Heater in Portage is probably a younger brother of my John Heater of Pennsylvania and Ohio. Unfortunately, I haven't found a probable family for them.
