Hi my family came from Ballinmore in county Lietrim which bordered Cavan near Bawnboy. If u have any info lemme know or get back to me anyway as we probably have some connection My grandfather Joseph Heavey came to the United States in 1928 and landed on Ellis Island he consequently settled in Long Island City for a period of time, his brother Peter also came here and became Presidentof The Textiles Workers Union in New Jersey after years of hard work. My granddad had 3 children Joseph, John and Mary. My dad was Joseph who worked for Genereal Motors for 25 yrsin Manhatan. He had 5 children which 3 of them became nypd officers including myself. Two of us are still currentely on the job as we say here. So Mike u seem to have the most knowledge of the Heavey clan from what i have found on the net, and it is greatly appreciated. if uhave any knowledge on Heaveys from Lietrim or Cavan please let me know. I also appreciated the civil war history that was great. Please get back to me Mike and again thankyou for all your effort and all ur time.sincerely, joe Heavey
