Your John Heavey of the U.S. Civil War was a witness to my Patrick Dooley's Naturalization 12 July 1861, as was a William Gilmore.Patrick was from Galway and I am desperately trying to find a townland.I wonder if there is a family tie here?Perhaps they were just neighbors in Charlestown, Mass.Ellen Gilmore of Charlestown and Ellen Heavy of Boston are witnesses for John's widow Mary (nee Quinn) signing of the Widow's Pension Application, and Thomas Gilmore states that he knew the deceased (John Heavy) well, that they worked together as laborers and had lived in the same house.Any Gilmores in your tree? I also found a John Heavy (age 24)on the Ship Sarah Louisa from Liverpool to Boston, 26 Oct 1850.Is this your John?
