Sorry it took me a while to reply to your message. I've had trouble getting on-line
but I've got a new modem so I'm back surfing again!
No, not a lot of response on the Hebenton page! I was going to say, it's not
surprising, as there are so few of us, but, in fact, it's really quite amazing when you count
up how many descendants there are (maybe not bearing the Hebenton surname today) all
over the world. So, I'm waiting patiently for more to turn up!
I sent some information by snail mail to Shelley and said I'd send more but never
got around to that yet. However, I did send quite a lot of info, I don't know how
close you are over there but I can send you some more information too if you cant' get a look at her papers.
Yes, Leanne was really kind and told me what she knew about your ancestors when I
wrote to her. She also tried tracking down some information about a Heb. who was
more closely related to me and died during World War I and had emigrated to
Australia prior to that. It's making me feel old, I think I was still at high
school, and couldn't really have long started doing the family tree when I wrote to
her! I knew that she was a mum to Mary Elizabeth but I didn't know she had a son
too, so thatnks for that update. I bet she's kept busy with them. I think it was
John & Bonnie Hebenton in New Zealand who gave me more up to date information about
your side of the family, the Francis family etc. I guess they must have been in
touch with some of you at one point. It was great getting to meet them when they
were over in the UK last year.
I'm glad the family documentation is of some interest. I really must get more
organised and have it more accessible from the Internet. But it's the best weather
of the year so far over here, and I'm loathe to spend too much time in front of the
p.c. I think that's a project for the bleak winter!
You can be my eyes and ears down under if you like and keep me up to date with any
increases in the Hebenton (and related) clan down under.
