I am currently trying to find my "MOORE" lineage. The earliest MOORE I have is George Hedgepeth/Hudspeth Moore who married Drusilla Awtrey in 1806 Jackson Co., Ga.

I'll try to explain the reason for my post on this list...

The middle name of "Hedgepeth/Hudspeth" has been passed down from the above mentioned generation: George H. and Drusilla Moore had
a son George H. Moore born 03-10-1811 in Georgia.

My GG-Grandfather (also son of George/Drusilla) James Washington Moore (1820-1874) also named my G-Grandfather, George Hedgepeth/Hudspeth Moore. My G-Grandfather told all of his kids/grandkids that the "H" stood for "Hog-Heaven" since no one could pronounce it properly! :)

Unfortunately, know one actually knows what the "H" stood for....except that it was Hedgepeth, Hedsbeth, Hudspeth, etc. I feel certain that it must be a family name to have been passed down thru the generations. So I am looking for a Moore/Hudspeth marriage around 1780's...that would be the parents of my GGG-Grandfather George.

I know this is confusing...but I am so confused and so desperate on my MOORE line that it never hurts to ask! :)

My Moore's ended up in Texas...Walker Co. and homesteaded the land on which I currently live.

Thanks So Much for any help you give!
