My grandmother told a story that my grandfather (Benjamin C. Hedgepeth)had a brother that ran away from home at a young age.To prove that he was a man an make his own way in the world. BUT,at a family reunion my father retold the story and my grandmother said she did ever remeber telling that story. All though all three of her children does many times. My grandma was not one to lie and dad is not sure way she said ,she hadn't told it. I Know this doesn't help you but my dad had alway added the if he did have alot of schooling and was young he could have misspelled his name or told it to someone and they misspelled the name HEDGEPETH. If it ture at all.
