I'm very interested in your record for Samuel HEDGPETH in the 1850 Census of Madison Co., AR. I cannot find him in the online index for 1850 at Family Tree Maker nor on their Census Index CD for 1850. I've checked all the "H" surnames and can't find anything that might even be a misspelling of HEDGPETH. The 1850 page numbers for Madison County are in the high 200s and low 300s, so it's unlikely he's on "page 11." Could you please re-check your notes for this record?

It's especially important because with both appearing in the 1850 census, it would prove that the Samuel HEDGPETH in Lincoln Co., TN, is a different person than the Samuel HEDGPETH in Madison Co., AR, which is what I have suspected. Do you have the full data for either of these? Could you share it? It would help enormously to sorting this out.

I think we are talking about at least two and possibly three different Samuel HEDGPETHs. Dr. Samuel HEDGPETH had a clinic in Santa Cruz, CA, ca. 1910. My grandmother used to visit her "Aunt Julia" (actually, her grand aunt) there ca. 1905-1915. The question is, is the Dr. Samuel HEDGPETH in Santa Cruz Julia's husband or her son? That is, is he Samuel HEDGPETH I or II or III?
