Ever since I was a little boy . My father Fred T .Heffinger told me the story of three brothers who Imigrated from Germany to work on the railroad lines in early 1800s,not sure were but he knows and I will find out.
One of which settled in or around Goldsboro,N.C another in Ohio not sure were and another in Smyth county VA. around Marion. Which I am 5th genaration of the later.
My grandfather was Tom Heffinger 3rd gen. Father Fred T. Heffinger 4th gen and Brian Heffinger 5th gen. Will get back with the other names later,But George Heffingers name I heard alot as a kid, not sure of relation my Gradfather was one of 7 children ,mabye a brother? ,but will find out.
As far as Name go here,s what I found out. It is an American misspelling of Hefinger the German spelling,I guess due to the language barrier when they first arrived. Will get back with more soon.
