Hi There,
I have no idea hwere in North Carolina George and his wife Virginia are from. I haven't even a clue where to start looking.
Where is Dry Fork VA?
I am from VA and living here now. I have gathered my information from the library and the military information of George from the internet.
You are right, Heffinger is not a widespread name. I have not come across if very much in my research. My Buchanan relatives are from Washington Co. and Smyth Co. VA. While researching in Smyth Co. I ran across a cemetary with some Heffingers- name spelled the same way, but have no other information to tie all of these people together.
I only have George, his wife Virginia and their daughter, Mary S. All of this information is from the marriage record of Mary to my ggrandfather, John Wesley Buchanan.
I have posted on county boards for Smyth Co., and in Virginia in general, and have got no response- until you. ")
I think Heffinger is a lovely name and I would love to learn of its origin. I'm making another trip to the library this week, so maybe I'll dig up something else.
Let's keep each other posted.
Good Hunting.
Cheryl Ridenour
