Personally, I would focus a search to a spelling as 'HEIDEL'. As most Heidels would likely tell you, misspelling our name 'heidle' is not uncommon. You are also being thrown another curve by a name of John. I had a great, great grandfather named 'Frank'. Both these names are not very german and likely changed to a simplified English form.

Others may have different experiences.
