Are you on Facebook? There are several Mike/Michael Heidels on Facebook. One is pictured living in the sticks someplace...TN? You know there are a lot of Heidels "from" Wartburg, TN. They having a presence there prior to the Civil War, do not seem to appear on any Civil War rosters. Actually, in my view, there are more Heidels I have found from Wartburg than all places named Heidelberg in Germany! (grin) I have some TN connections, too. Actually I moved from Ames, Iowa to Smithville, TN during the 1960s.

Where do you understand your Heidels were last in Germany? It has appeared to me to be Saxony (Sachen). I know of other Heidel descendents in Am who have descended from ones who came from Sachen.

So then your Heidels had the religious believes generally thought (by ones from Iowa) for those from Amana? This was also someting different I saw in your Heidels, especially if they had come from Sachen.
