I thought I had responded to one now in Idaho in regards to Heidels who migrated to the 'spud state' from Kansas. Prior to being in Kansas these Heidels had been in NY state it could be learned. They were once in either Herkimer or Oneida Counties which generally placed them along the Erie Canal. I think further that both these Heidel clans can be found in the source "Germans to America" to have immigrated to America during the 1850s. It has remained unclear to me whether these two clans were connected. Something from an 1896 Directory from Ohio Township for Herkimer County Heidels can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyherkim/ohio/ohiodir3.html. If this has disappeared the names and occupations that were shown follow: Heidel, Charles teacher Heidel, Christopher farmer Heidel, Edward farmer Heidel, Frederick farmer Notify Administrator about this message?
