My moddern German road atlas (Falk's) has an index to 90,000 placenames. It has proven a valuable resource for locating places in Germany, but I found no Tebingen. I found only Tabing and Thebing. Parts of old Prussia are no longer in Germany, of course.

I'd suggest you try to find the church records in Kansas. The first generation were usually good record keepers and gave reliable baptism information, sometimes including sponsors' names, in their confirmation records. Marriage records, too, usually contain place of birth. Protestant or Catholic, they all were Prussians!
