My Grandmother's maiden name was (Pauline) Heinisch and her family was from Statin Island. I believe there were eight or nine sisters in her family. Two of the sisters, Gertrude and Elsa, were nurses and worked at the Lenox Hill Hospital in Statin Island. We also had a great great great uncle, Rochius Heinisch, that served in the Civil War and lived in Newark, NJ where he had a cutlery business. He also held the patent for tailor shears (we have the original patent and a pair of the shears) issued in 1835 and eventually sold to the Wiss Co. I don't know whether there is any connection.
