Hmmm...Robert Heinlein's first American ancestor Matthias is said to have come to Pennsylvania in 1754 (from Bavaria) with son George.George has a son Lawrence (Lorentz?).I may be missing a generation (it would be a very short generation, but that's entirely possible with this family) but the record picks up more firmly with Asa Heinlein with sons Samuel E and Lawrence.Samuel E begets Rex Ivar, who begets Robert Anson as his third child.Back up to Asa's son Lawrence (b. 1828) marries Elizabeth Johnson and begets H.W., Samuel, and Oscar Allen.Oscar begets Oscar, Jr. and others.
