William Heintz, Peoria Star, Oct. 19, 1923, Friday

William Heintz, 61 years old, and widely known in political and business circles of Peoria, where he had resided for the past thirty-six years, died this morning shortly before 6 o'clock at his home, 106 McReynolds street. Mr. Heintz was born in Alsace-Lorraine, September 11, 1862 and at the age of one year came to this country with his parents, Henry and Julia Heintz. They located in Amana, Iowa, where they lived for some time. Later the younger Heintz moved to Cedar Rapids, Ia, where he met and married Miss Mary Werner, March 11, 1884. Thirty-six years ago he moved to Peoria and has since made his home here. For many years he was a stationary engineer but, later became active in politics and was at the county jail as turnkey under Sheriff Lewis Hines and was also Dairy Inspector during a former regime of Mayor Woodruff. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, the Liederkranz Society and the German Beneficial Union.
Friends may view the body at the home Saturday afternoon and evening after which it will be conveyed to the Wilton Mortuary Chapel where services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Frederick B. Bess, of St. Paul's Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery.
In addition to his widow, Mr. Heintz is survived by six children; Edwin, George, Walter, Ralph, Mrs. Minnie M. Roby of Peoria and William H. Heintz of Chicago. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters, George Heintz, Peoria; Louis Heintz, Amana, Ia.; Mrs. Sophie Endres, Greenfield, Ia., and Mrs. Dorothy Liebold, Edgely, N..D.

Note: Deceased brothers are Henry Heintz of Dover, Ohio, and Charles Heintz who died abt 3 yrs old in Amana, Iowa.
