Betty, Luke Johnson is my line, my g-grandfather is Alfonzo Johnson who is listed in the Tippah County Death Notices of Luke Johnson widow Anna Johnson. Alfonzo married Elizabeth Evaline William listed in the Calhoun County, Arkansas Marriages as Alonzo Johnson and Eliza Evaline Willliams. After Elizabeth died Alfonzo and my grandfather, James Hardy Johnson, went to Texas where Alfonzo married Marquret J. Benson. Alfonzo also was with James Hardy in Cuero, DeWitt, Texas when James Hardy married Julie Annie Brewer 06 Mar 1895. I believe that Alfonzo died in Cuero, Texas as my grandparents did not leave that area until sometime around 1898-1900. (I do not have proof of the death of Alfonzo yet) James Hardy Johnson b 04 Feb 1856 d. 12 Nov 1931 (Source for the birth & death and parents are from the Death Record of James Hardy Johnson) (Note: Many records show Alfonzo as A. S. Johnson) (Alfonzo Sterret/Sterrett Johnson). I really don't know the answer to your question on John C. Johnson, but thought you and some others searching might like to know something on this line. I am still working to fill in the holes as there are many. Recently I read information on DESCENDANTS OF BENJAMIN JOHNSON by Dawn Driskell on the Bibb County, Alabama web site, it had alot of information. you might try it if you have not already done so. -- Pat
