I've been looking at this as well. Interesting, the 1860 census shows Emanuel and Elizabeth (on page 8). Also in the 1860 census (page 61) is an entry for John and Faith Rushing and their children (to include Elizabeth). Both Elizabeth's are 17 in the census. John and Faith are reported to be Elizabeth's parents, yet she is also married to Helmuth. Interesting puzzle - no idea what happended. The only explanation (again assuming we are dealing with the same Elizabeth) is that the census with Helmuth is dated early June and the one with the Rushing family is early July. Could Helmuth have gone off to war by then - it's reported he served. If so, that could account for the double reporting.
