Dorothy let me know about your message. I have not at this stage got any info re Margaret Helsby and John Simpson. I niticed on the 1881 census that there is a Thomas Simpson age 5 born Gorton (near Chorlton)as a boarder with a Helsby family living at 56 John St Gorton.
The head is Mary Ann Helsby a widow age 68,it may be that Margaret is a daughter of Mary Ann Helsby. I have no knowledge of Mary Ann's husband at this stage.
