Sherry,
No, we haven't talked in a long time. And no, I haven't heard about the estate and settlement. If my grandmother received a letter about it, it has long ago been thrown away. However, if there was an estate, that means that there should be a file at the Adair County Court Clerk's office; right???Maybe we need to check there....
Also, I discovered a sister of John Helwick. Her name was Elizabeth, and the spouses of both she and her brother Henry had died before April 11, 1930, so Elizabeth and Henry were living together in Stewart Co., TN.Elizabeth was listed as "Elizabeth Krouse," age 72, born in OH, and shown as "Sister."Henry was the oldest, age 80 and born in OH.They both said their parents were born in Germany. You can find the record at:
1930 Stewart Co., TN federal census, Cross Road Precinct, Civil District ___, E.D. #81-15, S.D. # 3, sheet 2B, household # 55-55, date April 11, 1930.
So far, I show that Henry was the eldest, then John, then Elizabeth.
I show Henry's children as:Joseph, Henry, John, Bell and George. And Henry's wife was Martha.
Haven't found a record showing Elizabeth with her husband yet.
Do you know anything about "Peter Helwick," who is buried there in Stewart Co., TN?I don't have my notes, but he is buried in an old cemetery.
