My earliest HELWIG asbest I can tell, is George HELWIG. He married Anna Marie FISCHBACH.

All I have on George is his death date, 6, July 1849 in New Bremen, Ohio.
Here is what I have on his wife Anna.
Born; 5, August 1818 in Sondern, Bayern(Rhineland Pfalz), Germany.
Died; 30, March 1887 in New Bremen, Ohio

Their children;

1-George HELWIG-b. 28, February 1839- married Anna Gunther- died 19, May 1875.

2- Anna Margaretha HELWIG- b. 7, May 1841
married 1st. 1878,Selley BOOGHER, 2nd. Alexander BOURQUIN, died 1 December

3- Anna Catherine HELWIG- b. 6 August 1843 in Cincinnati, Ohio, m. 27 July 1865, George Wilhelm SCULENBERG in New Bremen, Ohio, d.
16 March 1929 in New Bremen, Ohio

4- Adam HELWIG- (my grandfather) b. 3 June 1846, m.7 March 1872, Anna L. SCHROEDER in New Bremen, Ohio ,d. 17 December 1937 in Lima, Ohio.
Ana L. SCHROEDER- b. 1849 in Brmen, Germany
d. 19 July 1932 in Lima, Ohio.

This is about it for what I have on the first HELWIG's who came from Germany. My grandmother did tel thou, that she thought someone in the family had said ; the HELWIG's were once VON HELWIG back in old Germany. This is not documented tho.
