My Wife is a Helwig. her father George was adopted by the family in the 1930's. We have a family tree that shows Daniel Helwig (1790-1857) Married Catherine George (1793-1865).
They Had 6 children:
Susan Helwig 1829-1907, M Mahlon carver
Livinia Helwig 1821-1903
Amos Helwig (?) 1817-1867 M Mary Otis
Tobias Helwig (1819-1889)
Silas Helwig (1824-1901)
Edward Helwig (1836-1898)
We have the Amos Helwig Line, Which Continues to Elias O Helwig (1850-1902), His son Harold G. Helwig, B 1889, and was a well known cabinet maker. (Some of his work is in San Simeon, Randolph Hearst's castle, by rumor). My Wifes Father is George A Helwig, 1927-1996. I hope this helps you in your search.
